World Care's mission is to help create sustainable communities by refurbishing, reusing, recycling, and redistributing goods for people in need.
Our vision of the future is of a world where there is no waste, and of communities where there is no want. By collecting and distributing surplus supplies that may have otherwise been thrown into landfills, we make our community - and the world - a better place.
World Care started in 1993 when a group of healthcare workers traveled to Guatemala to assess rural health facilities. The healthcare workers soon realized that the most pressing need was not for complex medical technology, but for basic necessities such as educational supplies. Trips to distribute donated school supplies expanded to include other countries, and in 1996, led to the formation of a new nonprofit organization named World Care. World Care soon expanded its programs to help fight poverty and need in the Tucson community through the refurbishment and redistribution of donated goods from the community.
